Fathead convincingly combines elements of Soul, R&B, Gospel, and traditional urban Blues. Their distinctive musical imprint is characterized by solid grooves, soul-drenched melodies, ace musicianship, and compelling true-to-life songwriting. The band features John Mays' soul stirring vocals, Al Lerman's tone perfect harp and sax, and Darren Poole's sturdy supportive guitar work. And individually and collectively, Fathead has won numerous awards – including a 1998 Juno Award for "Blues Recording Of The Year". Their latest CD, the eclectic Building Full Of Blues (Electro-Fi Records), among other highlights, finds Fathead's long time songwriting force, Lerman and Omar Tunnoch, taking their talents to another level. Covering a wide range of subject matter, while providing streetwise commentary on the human condition, they offer up 12 strong originals. Their stories in song effectively add to the band's legacy with melodies and tempos that are distinctly Fathead.
