THE DARRELL NULISCH BLUES BAND
Goin' Back To Dallas
Main Stage - June 17, 2007

The Texas born Darrell Nulisch remembers playing his first gig at 15 years of age after he learned a few Jimmy Reed tunes. From there Nulisch has assembled a very impressive resume. His list of accomplishments include working alongside Anson Funderburgh as one of the founding members of The Rockets, fronting Ronnie Earls band, and for several years touring regularly with James Cotton adding his always soulful vocals and harp to the mix. But, his considerable skills are best displayed when he takes centre stage as evidenced by a number of fine albums under his own name including I Like It That Way (Severn) that earned him a 2001 W.C. Handy Award nomination for Soul / Blues Album Of The Year.

Nulisch, long associated with Southern Soul, is now circling back home to the Blues. That familiar road came into view when he was playing a number of casual gigs lately. While pulling out some old reliables – his outstanding harp work and some of long overlooked tunes – he revived his enduring love of the Blues. And, much to his delight, he received an ecstatic response from audiences who, sharing in the moment, let him know first hand that they enjoyed hearing his Blues as much as he loved playing them. He connected with the crowd on a very basic and powerful level. Just what the Blues are all about!

Buoyed by that soul satisfying experience Nulisch is now returning full time back to where it all began. Fuelled by his love of Blues, essentials in tow, (guitar, harp, bass, drums), Darrell has resurfaced – refreshed, renewed, and ready to take it to the streets!

Look for Darrell's new cd, celebrating his recommitment to the Blues, Goin' Back To Dallas on Severn Records.
